South Africa’s participation at the International Tourism Trade Fair for Latin America in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on 14 to 17 November 2009.

The South African Embassy, with assistance from the South African Department of Trade and Industry, will form part of around 1700 exhibitors that will participate at the forthcoming International Tourism Trade Fair (FIT) - www.fit.org.ar- to be held in La Rural, Buenos Aires on 14-17 November 2009. Around 50 countries will participate in this year’s FIT and South Africa will use its stand number 620 at this tourism trade fair to promote the country as an attractive tourist destination, while also profiling the country’s readiness to host the forthcoming 2010 FIFA World Cup finals from 11 June – 11 July next year. The South African stand at the FIT will comprise of various exhibitors from South Africa and from Argentina (please see the list of exhibitors below) who will provide the visitors to our stand with a variety of tourist packages that those interested visiting South Africa, especially within the context of the 2010 FIFA World Cup, could choose from.

This year’s FIT will comprise of a variety of leading characters of the world tourism industry, such as: wholesalers, tour operators, carrier companies, hotels & accommodation, events, official tourism organizations, travel agencies, convention & visitors bureau and representatives of the media sector. As such, the FIT is considered one of the most important tourism trade fairs in South America, and it could be likened to South Africa’s annual Tourism INDABA (which showcases the widest variety of Southern Africa's best tourism products) as well as other international tourism fairs such FITUR in Madrid) and ITB in Berlin.

The Fair will be open to the general public on Saturday-Sunday, November 14-15 from 15h00 to 22h00 and on Monday-Tuesday, November 16-17 from 10h00 to 19h00 the Fair will be exclusively open to professional visitors.

We welcome you all to visit our stand number 620, located in the International Sector of the FIT 2009, where you will meet with South Africa’s Provincial and Regional Tourism Boards as well as Argentine Tour Operators offering interesting tour packages to South Africa.
